It's Time Again For Dental Students!
Seniors from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry will be performing their required externship with our office from May 24-June 25 and June 28 - July 30. These young professionals will be offering their services at a discounted price with the aid of Drs. Leslie and Rachel Davis. Price discounts vary depending on dental procedure and insurance company. Michael Hunzinger will be the first extern, doing his rotation from May 24-June 25. He was one of Dr. Rachel's top denture students during his sophomore complete denture course. Dr. Rachel has also worked closely with Michael in his junior clinic this past year. Michael has great hand skills and is very considerate and compassionate towards his patients. He is president of the Louisville American Student Dental Association, a student member of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry Admissions Committee, a member of the Delphi Society and a volunteer for the Kentucky Humane Society. Dr. Rachel Is Awarded The Young Alumni Leadership Award From Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity
Dr. Rachel H. Davis won the Young Alumni Leadership Award and Dr. Larry 
Gettleman won the Certificate of Merit Award from Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity on April 19, 2010 at the University Club. The awards were given by Dr. Charlene S. Berkman, International President of Alpha Omega, who practices dentistry in Flushing, New York. Dr. Gettleman practices, teaches, and does research at the UofL School of Dentistry and is co-advisor to the student chapter with Dr. Rachel. Alpha Omega is the oldest international dental organization in the world, with an alumni chapter in Louisville and a student chapter at the UofL School of Dentistry.

Dr. Rachel Runs the Triple Crown For The Third Year In A Row
(Clockwise: Rodes 6 miles; Papa Johns 10 miles; Kentucky Derby Festival Mini Marathon 13.1 miles)
Dr. Rachel participated in the Triple Crown of Racing again this year. She competed in three of the four races: The Rodes 10 k or 6 miles, The Papa John's 10 miler and The Kentucky Derby Mini Marathon 13.1 miles. The first race, The Anthem 5 k or 3 miles was held during Dr. Rachel's annual trip to Guatemala and she was unable to run. Her results are as followed:

Davis Dental Center Launches Smile Reminder
We all know, if you don't stay up with the times they will leave you behind. Well, that is not the case with Davis Dental Center. This 35+ year old practice took a vital step in the direction of technology on January 21, 2010 by coordinating their practice with Smile Reminder http://www.smilereminder.com. Smile Reminder is a program to help assist Davis Dental with reminding their patients about upcoming and needed appointments by text messaging and email messages. In today's mobile society it is becoming increasingly more difficult to reach all our patients but with Smile Reminder we will be able to reach most of our patients through electronic media such as cell phones, PDA's and email. Within the next month, they will also be launching the second part to Smile Reminder where patients will be able to pay bills online, send secure messages to the office, schedule appointments and much more. Dr. Rachel and Staff Represent The Davis Dental Center at The Louisville Metro Health Fair
The Davis Dental Center was asked to participate in the Louisville Metro Health Fair on July 22, 2009 at the Muhammid Ali Center, as one of two exclusive dental offices that accept the insurance plans of these employees. Many months went into planning this event and all the hard work paid off with an amazing booth including great patient give-a-ways. Many potential patients were seen and were able to meet Dr. Rachel and staff even before stepping foot into the office. "This was an amazing experience and a great way to acquire new patients 
and let them know first hand how our office works," stated Paula, the Patient Care Coordinator. This health fair was such a great success that the Davis Dental Center has been asked to participate next year.

Davis Dental Center at the Downs
Drs. Leslie and Rachel Davis treated their staff to the Louisville Dental Society's (LDS) Annual Day at the Races at Churchill Downs on Friday June 12, 2009. The event was held for all LDS dentists and their staff on Millionaires Row in a private room with a buffet luncheon. The office arrived at 1pm and bet on horses until a trifecta was hit and the girls called it a day! Stephanie stated, " This is the best day all year and it's such a treat to spend the day with the office outside of the office." Dr. Rachel Receives Award
On Thursday May 21, 2009, Dr. Rachel was acknowledged by the Louisville Dental Society (LDS) by receiving the Junior Member Superior Service Award. The award ceremony recognized only six other dentists who have volunteered their time and talents to serve on various LDS committees and also recognized them for their devotion to the society and the profession of dentistry.
The certificate states, “This award is presented in grateful appreciation of your tireless devotion and service to this society and to the profession of dentistry. We hereby recognize you as one whose example should be emulated by all who would aspire to lead this society in the future.”
Dr. Rachel Runs the Mini Marathon
On Saturday April 25, 2009, Dr. Rachel participated in the 38th Annual Kentucky Derby Festival Mini Marathon. Dr. Rachel and 12,000 other runners, braved the extreme heat and distance. Dr. Rachel's finish time was 2:26:53, she finished 5099th! Great job Dr. Rachel.
